1st Place: Clary
Last month, KEXP celebrated Goths In Trees Day, a duel observation of both Earth Day and the 53rd birthday of the Grandfather of Goth, Robert Smith. Not only did our DJs and staff don their darkest duds and embark upon the branches, but we encouraged our listeners to do the same. These brave, dark souls were encouraged to send us their photos via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or Tumblr. And, yeah, maybe we lured them with records by The Cure.
The best goth photo received a set of two limited edition 2LP sets from The Cure, courtesy of Rhino Records! The winner got the remastered 2LP Disintegration, their 1989 classic, and their 2LP set Entreat Plus, which was a Record Store Day release.
And, our 1st place winner is... Clary, as seen above! The only thing Robert Smith loves more than trees might be cats, and somehow she managed to get one up there with her. Well done!
2nd place: Laura
Our second place winner is Laura, who added, “Now that I’ve taken care of this I can write some bad high school poetry.” Now, now, Laura, that can wait for Jim Morrison’s birthday. (Just kidding. We’re not gonna celebrate that.)

An Honorable Mention has to go out to Joe. Well played, Joe.
Honorable Mention: Rachael
Another Honorable Mention goes to Rachael, who created the “Goths In Trees” cocktail: “blueberry, black pepper, jalapeño, mint, lime, tequila, gingerale.” I thought the “Goths In Trees” cocktail was absinthe, but maybe you won’t fall out of the tree drinking Rachael’s recipe instead.
